My blog title is a bit of a joke, I'm not a romance guy, and this blog is not some e-harmony profile, just to clarify.
Well, I've been reading about blogs for the past 5 or 6 years, and now I'm joining the masses! I really don't know why I'm creating a blog, but it should be interesting. I guess I'll begin by stating that I'm now living the college life. It's not exactly like I expected, but I'm liking it a lot. It's really interesting to be at an all LDS school, where people really want to live the standards. It provides a lot of strength and inspiration. I thought that when you got into college, you would magically become smarter, and that you would want to do school work. This has not been the case. I feel so mediocre here! Everyone seems so much smarter and motivated to excel. Its exciting but also intimidating and humbling. One of the main reasons I wanted to come to BYU was for the social aspect and that has been great! Everyone is so friendly and people act like they've been friends for years, when we've only been here for a month. I can't believe how short this semester is. Its past midterms already. This means that there are a lot of tests coming up and that is not a good thing. I love my Sociology class. I'm really interested in the subject, but the tests are so detailed that their a beast to study for. My math class is a drag. The professor might as well not speak for all the help he is. But its not too bad, I have made a couple friends in that class that actually know whats going on and help me out. Right now I'm in the JFSB, which I personally like a lot more than the library. It has a a very reverent feel to it , and its always extremely quiet, which is good for someone who gets so easily distracted. The place where I study has floor to ceiling windows which look out onto this courtyard with a stone fountain in the center. It's fun to watch the families that come to the courtyard and have their little kids swim and play in the fountain. That is something else that is really different about BYU, all the married people! There was this really pretty lady in my social dance class, ( which I dropped due to the fact I have two left feet), and she danced with me and seemed to be a little bit flirty, but then she told me about her husband. It was really odd, and funny. I guess thats why a lot of people come down to the Y in the first place though, to find an eternal companion who cares about the gospel. That seems so far off , but it could possibly be 3 or 4 years for me. Good thing I have a mission in between now and then, cause I'm not ready for the married life by any means . These first few weeks of college have been so fun in part cause my sister Jordan has such a close dorm. All the girls in there seem to get along , so they act kind of like a anchor for other groups to base around. My roomates and I have been getting along pretty well. We do a lot of card nights, and just random things with my sisters dorm, which has been such a blessing. If I didn't have Jordan down here my entire experience would've been different! I miss my family , but its not too bad since they live only an hour north, and come to visit every so often. My poor little brother Joshua is going to be bored at home now. We went from a house of 5, to a house of 3 in one night. Well , I'm going to get back to studying for my beastly exams this week. WOOT for a new blogger!
Way to go Jacob!! Starting a blog. It's lots of fun being a blogger. I liked your blog title and your background picture. I hope all is well at school and that you're having a great experience.
